Platform to Employment will offer courses online and make tools freely available.
The WorkPlace announces the launch of Platform to Employment (P2E) online to support workers that are now seeking employment remotely due to COVID-19. Platform to Employment has helped hundreds of Rhode Island job seekers re-enter the workforce through a traditional classroom presentation. This new online format will include distance learning, class-based activities and collaboration with other program participants. The WorkPlace is pleased to announce that the versatile, nationally recognized Platform to Employment program is ready to help Rhode Island residents get back to work in good jobs.
Platform to Employment is accepting applications from Rhode Island residents that are unemployed and are over 50 years old. If you meet these criteria, have a computer with internet access, you are encouraged to apply now as space is limited. Platform to Employment is funded through the Governor’s Workforce Board Rhode Island and there is no cost to attend. Those interested in the program can apply at platformtoemployment.com and click on the Rhode Island Application button on the right side of the homepage.
“Today, more than ever, jobseekers are increasingly supplementing their job training with online programs. Platform to Employment has shown strong results in placing participants in jobs and it is a flexible model that can be delivered in multiple formats,” said Joe Carbone, President and CEO of The WorkPlace. “P2E will enable unemployed workers to become job ready and will dramatically improve their chances of finding employment.”
Platform to Employment offers individuals a three-week preparatory program, including skills assessment, career readiness workshops, employee assistance programs, coaching and more. Upon program completion, Career Coaches assist participants to find open positions at local companies. Placements are made on a trial basis, paid for by the program. Platform to Employment subsidizes wages for up to six weeks, providing employers a risk-free opportunity to evaluate a candidate and determine if a good match exists. The expectation is that if the company is satisfied with the performance of the participant, a full-time job will ensue.
The program has restored careers, dignity and provided skilled workers to employers who do not have time and resources to find talent. Participants represent the diverse demographics of the state and share a common desire to help one another, promote opportunity and overcome the challenges unemployment.
