Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County is marking 20 years of service to over 10,000 women in Southwest Connecticut through Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County’s employment retention and suiting programs. As part of the annual celebration, Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County is excited to recognize Teresa Younger, President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women with the first annual Denise “Denny” Taft Davidoff Empowerment Award.
A noted speaker, advocate, and activist, Teresa Younger has been on the frontlines of some of the most important battles for women’s health, safety and economic justice. Under Teresa’s leadership, the Foundation launched #MyFeminismIs, a multimedia campaign sparking a national conversation on feminism; funded a groundbreaking report on the sexual abuse to prison pipeline; joined leading women’s foundations at the White House to announce a $100 million funding commitment to create pathways to economic opportunity for low-income women and girls; and led a campaign to hold the NFL accountable for violence against women.
Younger previously served as the executive director of the Connecticut General Assembly’s Permanent Commission on the Status of Women and as executive director of the ACLU of Connecticut – making her the first African American and the first woman to hold that position.
“I am honored to receive the Denise “Denny” Taft Davidoff Empowerment Award and to be recognized by an organization that is making such a meaningful difference in the lives of women throughout Fairfield County,” said Teresa Younger, President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women. “Ensuring women’s economic empowerment is central to our mission at the Ms. Foundation has been a key part of my career’s work. I couldn’t be more excited to join Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County to celebrate the women they serve each day.”
The Denise “Denny” Taft Davidoff Empowerment Award recognizes and celebrates exceptional champions of gender equity and women’s advancement. Denny Davidoff was a powerful life force dedicated to empowering people in the workforce, marketplace, and community. She provided 25 years of commitment and service to the workforce of Southwestern Connecticut as a Board Member, Vice Chairwoman, and Chairwoman of The WorkPlace Board of Directors, supporting a variety marginalized populations through powerful programs including Dress for Success Mid-Fairfield County.
